Dual Purpose Units

Any of the Progressive models shown can serve either as a strainer, a bag filter, or (in models that can be used with the inner basket/inner bag option) as hybrid combinations of strainers and filters. The function can be changed at any time, without modification to the housing. Housings are available in carbon steel and stainless steel (304 or 316).

Straining

As strainers, the housings are fitted with perforated stainless steel baskets. Perforation size can be from 1/16 to 1/4 –inch. When filtering is required, strainer baskets can be ordered with stainless steel wire mesh linings. Mesh sized offered range from 20 to 200.

Filtering

When the application calls for the finer filtration (or when there is reason to use disposable elements) filter bags can be used, supported by stainless steel baskets with 9/16-inch dia. Perforations. Bags are made with particle size retention ratings ranging from 800 down to one micron.

Standard bag materials are nylon, polyester and polypropylene, constructed as felts and monofilament or multifilament meshes. Special purpose felt bags include high temperature service (to 500o F) bags of nylon or Teflon and Oil-adsord bags made of special felted polypropylene microfibers

Options

  • Adjustable support legs
  • 500 PSI pressure rating
  • Mesh lined strainer baskets
Our PF 10 series effectively removes dirt, pipe scale, and other contaminants from process liquids such as water, chemical, and petroleum products. Quality construction and design assure protection or all down-stream equipment.

Vessel Construction

Our model PF 10 single vessels are designed for operation up to 300 PSI at 300 degrees Fahrenheit. The housing design provides a large sump area at the bottom of the basket for particulate accumulation. This design utilized the filter more efficiently and prolongs the element life.

The 316 S.S. basket seals onto a viton o-ring to eliminate particulate bypass between the basket and seat. Optional mesh-lined strainer baskets and o-rings are available. Please refer to their individual brochures in our liquid catalog.

A vent in the housing lid and a drain port in the housing speed evacuation and filling. Gauge ports are located on the body of the housing to install gauges for monitoring the differential pressure across the bag.. Permanently piped housing are opened with simple tools without disturbing the piping. Swing bolts with eye-nuts allow easy opening and closing of the swing-lid. No need to remove ay hardware.

As a standard finish, all vessels are blast cleaned and painted inside and out with a 2-part epoxy. Stainless steel vessels are supplied with a satin finish.

Housing Operations

Unfiltered liquid enters the housing above the filter bag or strainer basket; flows down into the housing; and continues through the element. Solids are trapped inside the filter bag or strainer and easily removed when the housing is serviced.

Specifications

Housing lid has a 3-bolt swing closure with a vent port. Connections are (_) inch (NPT)(FLG) with a (side inlet and bottom outlet)(side inlet and side outlet)(side inlet and 90 degree bottom outlet). Housing is supplied with two differential pressure ports to measure the differential pressure across the filter bag. A two-part epoxy finish. Basket material is manufactured from 316 stainless steel with 9/64" perforations to act as a strainer or to accept a #3 or #4 size liquid bag. Lid seals onto a Viton o-ring. Vessels are rated at a 300 pound per square inch design.
