UV Light
H2O Team incorporates modern technology to solve an age-old problem. Bacteriological contamination can be present in all water supplies, especially rural areas or areas which are not treated with municipal water systems. It is microbiological treatment, regardless of how the water is tested. H2O Team protects your water natures way by using cleansing ultraviolet light. Unlike traditional disinfection methods such as chlorination (Which can not only react with natural organic matter in water to produce objectionable taste and odor, but also form substances with know carcinogenic properties such as chloroform), UV imparts no residual chemicals into the water. The result is the most simple, cost effective way of treating your water! Ozone From recreational water to drinking water, our complete ozone systems are capable of handling the most challenging disinfection and oxidation is the technological process whereby ozone, a natural but more highly activated form of oxygen, is injected into water. The result of ozonization is cleaner, clearer, and more odor free water than is possible by standard purification methods. At the present time, chlorine is the most widely used chemical in the treatment of water. It is effective in killing or neutralizing many microorganisms that carry and spread disease. However, chlorine has properties that also make it harmful to people, animals and the environment in general. Ozone has all the characteristics to qualify it as the ideal alternative to chlorine in treating water. Copper/Silver Ionization
H2O Team has improved on a proven theory of copper-silver ion water purification (mineral purification) and offers the highest quality, most effective copper-silver ionization water purification system on the market. For home swimming pools and spas; commercial water fountains, and public swimming pools, and water cooling towers.
The unit combines ancient knowledge of the cleansing power of copper with modern technology to bring your system the highest quality, most effective water purification system on the market. Years of research and development have led to many advanced and innovative features that make H2O Team products truly unique. |

Ozone From recreational water to drinking water, our complete ozone systems are capable of handling the most challenging disinfection and oxidation requirements for water treatment professionals around the world.
At the present time, chlorine is the most widely used chemical in the treatment of water. It is effective in killing or neutralizing many microorganisms that carry and spread disease. However, chlorine has properties that also make it harmful to people, animals and environment in general. This is being recognized worldwide, and new standards governing the use of chlorine and chlorine compounds call for a major reduction and restriction of their applications in treating water. Ozone has all the characteristics to qualify it as the ideal alternative to chlorine in treating water. Consider its properties:
Cooling Tower
Ozone has been successfully used for the treatment of recirculating cooling waters for many years. Benefits of ozone treatment include reduction of chemical costs and the labor associated with ongoing chemical concentration sampling and dosing, increase in the cycles of concentration, reduction (in some cases totally eliminating) blow down, and elimination of glow down water disposal costs. This last benefit can be a function of less blow down water to be paid for, less costs incurred to treat the blow down water to reduce chemical contamination to allowable levels, or reduction of penalties imposed due to disposal of heavily contaminated water. Ozone works by attacking the biofilm present in all cooling tower waters, resulting in less (or no) physical labor to power-down the tower for hand-stripping of the biofilm. By operation cleaner, efficiency of heat transfer increases, reducing excess load on compressors, pumps and heat exchangers. Therefore, operation costs are lowered. Some case studies report superior corrosion control and reduction of scale buildup, even with increased cycles of concentration. Food Processing
Applications for ozone in the food processing/packaging industries are extremely varied. Since ozone is the most powerful disinfectant available for practical use, it’s utility for inactivation is outstanding. It is also being shown effective for increasing the storage life, ranging from minimally processes to fully processed commodities, by reducing the level of food spoilage microorganisms contained on the food surface.
Further uses included treatment of hydrocooling tank waters and wash waters, to reduce or eliminate penalties imposed for disposal of contaminated water. Recycling of these water is also possible with ozone, without the potential for buildup of conventional chemicals beyond allowable levels. Another benefit is the ability to inactivate microorganisms washed off of the food surface during these processes reducing (or preventing) the potential for the cross contamination. Food handling and storage equipment and facilities can benefit from ozone’s oxidiaing powers if washed with ozonated water on a regular basis, to eliminate bacteria and spores. This can also reduce or prevent cross contamination from batch to batch, or commodity to commodity. Packaging ad transport containers can be sanitized by ozone prior to introduction of the commodity, further reducing or preventing cross contamination. This method also eliminates increased levels of contamination from ingestion. Ozone reverts to elemental oxygen after a very short time, making it impossible to be ingested by the consumer. Ozone used in the gas phase in cold storage environments has been shown to lengthen storage life, by controlling the germination of mold an yeast spores. This is important to packagers or processors of fragile commodities that cannot hold up to water based processing (such as strawberries). Pool, Spa, and Jacuzzi
Ozone has seen widespread use as a supplemental (or in some cases, replacement) sanitizer in swimming pools, spas and Jacuzzis. By relying upon ozone, rather than the typical halogen (i.e., chlorine) to perform primary sanitization, formation of disinfection by –products (thihalomethanes) is minimized, resulting in a more comfortable pool environment.
Depending upon the intended pool, spa or jacuzzi use, halogen addition can be significantly reduced or eliminated completely. Residential Point of Entry Point of entry water is a term meaning that water treatment is performed at the point water enters the residence. This means that all water, whether used for drinking or flushing toilets, is treated in the same manner. Ozone based point of entry systems are available to treat any number of groundwater contaminants, with iron, manganese and hydrogen sulfide the most common. Water containing contaminants such as there can cause problems of sufficient severity to justify the expense of treating water intended for use other than drinking. The typical system involves an ozone injection / contacting step, followed by mechanical filtration to remove the precipitated solids. Residential Point of Use Point of use is a term meaning that water treatment is performed at a specific location within the home, usually at the kitchen tap for drinking water purposes. Generally speaking, point of use treatment devices are small and portable and are used to treat water problems that, while objectionable for drinking purposes, are t likely to cause problems elsewhere in the home. Common complaints, such as undesirable tastes and odors, are readily treated by ozone based point of use systems. Waste Water
Ozone is used effectively in the processing of water laden wit concentrations of industrial byproducts. Pesticides, organics, BOC and COD are all treated thoroughly and effectively through ozone oxidation.
Due to the degree of variation in contaminant makeup and loading, waste water treatment equipment is usually specified after scaled down pilot testing has been performed to determine required ozone dosages. Reduction in processing costs, as well as reduction or elimination of penalties imposed due to disposal of contaminated water are some of the benefits. Further benefits include use of a clean, environmentally friendly technology is as effective and economical as less friendly technologies. |

Copper Silver Ionization
Copper has the ability to pierce the protective outer membrane of a cell and disrupt enzyme balance, as well as allowing other bactericides and algaecides access to the susceptible parts of the organism. Silver is effective because of its capabilities of interfering with DNA production and accelerating the death phase. Benefits
Frequently Asked Questions What is an ion? An ion is an atom or group of atoms that possess an electrical charge. An atom is like a time solar system, with a nucleus in the middle and one or more electrons orbiting around the outside. Inside the nucleus are positively charged particles called proton. The electrons are negatively charged. An atom usually contains an equal number of protons and electrons. An ion gets its electrical charge by losing or gaining electrons. If is has an extra electron, it is called an anion. If is has lost an electron, it is a positive ion, or know as a cation. Copper silver ion systems produce cations. What is copper-silver ionization? The process that causes an element to gain or lose electrons is called ionization. Copper-silver ionization is the electronic release of copper and silver ions. How does copper-silver ionization work? A set of electrodes, made up of an anode and cathode are placed in a flow cell. This flow cell is placed in –line with the circulation system. A controller provides a low voltage, alternating DC current. This is passes between the anode and cathode. The voltage causes some of the outermost atoms of the anode to lose an electron, thus becoming positive ions, which attempt to flow across to the cathode. In this process, the ions are carried away by the flow of water. How do copper and silver ions sanitize water? An over simplified explanation is as follow. The copper ion destroys the algae and bacteria by piercing the outer membrane and disrupting enzyme balance. This also allows for the halogens present to enter the cell and help destroy it. Silver ions are effective as a sanitizer because of its efficiency in interrupting DNA production preventing reproduction and accelerating the death phase of the bacteria and viruses. While lethal to bacteria, may viruses and algae, the system is completely safe for humans, animals and plants. How do you control the actual amount of ionization taking place? The electrodes are connected to a control panel which governs the system. By advancing the output time on the controller, you increase the amount of ions dispensed into the water. By reducing the output time, you reduce the number of ions dispensed. Hope do you know if ionization is taking place? Every Thomsontec ion system includes a test kit that can measure a precise amount of copper ions in the water. A single test should be done a minimum of once a week in the hot summer months. The test only takes a couple of minutes. You compare the color of the tested water to a chart on the test kit to determine the copper ion level. What is the recommended copper ion level? The recommended range is between .20 and .50 ppm. If the reading is low, simply adjust the controller to a higher setting; if the reading is too high, turn the system down. How can I till if the unit is functioning? The controller features a digital readout of the duty cycle and an anode indicator. The anode indicator will be lit when current is passing between anode and cathode. The copper test kit tells the actual copper level. Do I need to test for the silver ion level? Whenever the copper ion level is correct, the silver ion level will be in reange salso. The electrodes are a mix of copper and silver, so the right proportions are always being released at the same time. Is it difficult to change the electrodes? On some models such as the 150MPC, the electrodes come pre-mounted in a PVC cap. Simply unscrew this cap from the flow cell and replace with a new one. Wrap some Teflon tape around the threads before installing. On other models such as the 450MPC, no tools are required as the electrodes are held in place by a quick release sanitary clamp system. How do I know if my electrodes need cleaning or replacing? The anode light will no be it if there is a problem with the electrodes. Also, running the system at higher levels and not being able to generate any sort of copper reading on the test kit will also be an indication. How hard is it to install the system? The installation is not difficult in most cases. An installation manual is included with each system. Will I ever have to shock my pool again? Yes. As ion systems have no oxidizing potential, it will be required. There are a number of alternatives. If you prefer to use a non chlorine shock, one pound of potassium monopersulfate per 10,000 gallons should be applied once a week in swimming season. This non-chlorine shock dissolves instantly and you can swim immediately after adding it to the pool. You can also use a non stabilized chlorine. The amount will vary depending on the manufacturer. Be sure to follow all directions from both the ion manual and your pool professional. Why do I need to oxidize? Oxidizing helps maintain clear, sparkling water. There are a number of contaminates that will be in the water that are not algae or bacteria. These can cause cloudy water, for example, body oils, suntan lotions, and other types of organic matter can be present. The easiest and bet way to get rid of these contaminants is my oxidizing. Aldo, oxidizing helps dissolve the bio-shield that can build up around algae calls preventing the ions from getting to the algae and killing it. How often will I have to oxidize? It all depends on your pool and the environment. Maintaining good water balance and keeping regular maintenance habits will help. Generally we recommend that you oxidize a minimum of once a week. In cooler weather, or in dry areas, once a month may be sufficient. Commercial pool owners are required to keep an appropriate free chlorine residual in the pool at all time. This varies from district to district. Commercial pool operators should consult with their local health authority in insure they are within regulations. Are there any other options? Yes, ion systems work well with ozone, bromine, chlorine and other methods of sanitation. Consult your local pool professional for more information on your particular application. Do I have to maintain a free chlorine residual in a residential pool or spa? In residential pools, there is no legal requirement to use chlorine at all. In fact, many ion users don't. They use a non chlorine shock or ozone and are very happy. However, we are not suggesting or recommending the ion system is an alternative to chlorine alone. Lab tests have been done and reports written that state that a low level of chlorine and the use of an ion system is a much better way to sanitize than either method alone. We are in favor of any method or combination of methods that will insure safe, sanitary water and at the same time provide exceptional water with virtually none of the down sides associated with a standard sanitizing chemicals. In this combination the chlorine level is very low (less than 0.5 ppm) so it is basically unnoticeable pus the ion system is much more effective because of the presence of this low level of halogen providing constant oxidization. This provides the best of both worlds.
